What these numbers mean.

This dashboard reads an official public police dataset and checks it hourly. Records can change as reports are reviewed, corrected, added, or removed.

Records, geography & refresh

Record model. Each row is an incident report classified by its highest NIBRS offense. It does not enumerate every offense that may be attached to the incident.

Map geography. The map joins the source’s two-character division ID to official CMPD patrol-division polygons. Rows without a supported division remain citywide.

Refresh. The official CMPD incident service is checked hourly and the page shows the latest incident-began date returned for the current year.

Interpretation. A police record is not a conviction, and a raw count is not a population-adjusted crime rate. Use the map to examine patterns inside one consistent source.
