PORTLAND AT A GLANCE
Read the local pattern.
Portland publishes a current-year reported-offense workbook with neighborhood and City Council district fields. This explorer uses the district field to align counts with official district polygons.

Category totals reflect the source’s own record and classification model. They should not be silently compared with another city’s local labels.
READ BEFORE USING
What these numbers mean.
This dashboard reads an official public police dataset and checks it hourly. Records can change as reports are reviewed, corrected, added, or removed.
Records, geography & refresh
Record model. Rows represent reported offenses and include an offense-count field. Multiple offenses can be connected with one incident, so the total is not a count of unique events or people.
Map geography. The map uses Portland’s four official City Council districts. Records without a supported district remain citywide; this avoids substituting today’s neighborhood boundaries for PPB’s simplified 2009 geography.
Refresh. PPB says the reported-crime data updates monthly, generally about 30 days after month end. This site checks the current-year workbook hourly.
Interpretation. A police record is not a conviction, and a raw count is not a population-adjusted crime rate. Use the map to examine patterns inside one consistent source.
