Records, geography & refresh
Record model. A police incident can contain one or more crime records. The public feature layer can therefore contain multiple offense or victim-related rows connected to one incident.
Map geography. The map uses nine official MNPD precinct boundaries. Counts are spatially calculated from public incident coordinates; records that do not intersect a precinct remain only in the citywide total.
Refresh. Metro Nashville says its downloadable dashboard data updates nightly. This site checks the official layers hourly and shows the latest occurrence date returned.
Interpretation. A police record is not a conviction, and a raw count is not a population-adjusted crime rate. Use the map to examine patterns inside one consistent source.
